​COVID-19 Updates


Auto Registrations
All auto registrations, including temporary and expired, were extended during the State's recent LEGISLATION. This means they will expire 30 days after the State of Emergency ends. The same applies for inspection stickers. Auto renewals can still be processed online.  

Property Tax Payments
The deadline for property tax payments has been pushed back to June 1. 

Boats
The State has allowed residents to operate without a current 2020 registration during the month of April 2020.

First time registrations in many cases can be completed by mail. To request registration by mail email veh-reg@portlandmaine.gov or leave a call back number on 207-874-8491

Real Estate Taxes Due Dates 

  • 1st Half - October 18, 2019
  • 2nd Half - June 1, 2020

Note:

Interest will be charged on the first installment at an annual rate of 9% starting on October 19, 2019.  Interest will be charged on the second installment at an annual rate of 9% starting June, 2020.


*Please note - the FY20 tax bill are being mailed in September 2019 and the 1st half payment due date has been adjusted accordingly.
